Leh, the capital of Ladakh, has been an important junction on the famous Silk Route of the olden times. It is also the second largest district of the country spreading in an area of 45,110 sq kms. Located at an altitude of 11,562 ft, it is still dominated by the ruins of the Leh Palace (a major tourist attraction), the former residence of the royal family of Ladkah, built on the lines of the Potala Palace, Tibet. It boasts of being home to several known ancient Buddhist monasteries. It is one of the most-visited destinations in Ladakh and has a lot to offer.

Ladakh:

Ladakh is the land of endless discovery with snow-capped mountains of great Himalayan. Ladakh, the region of mountain passes, a piece of broken moon land- a perfect place to witness the unmatched beauty of nature. Ladakh is the highest plateau of the Indian state of Kashmir with much of it being over 3,000m. It lies between 32 to 36 degree north latitude and 75 to 80 degree east longitude. The total area of 45110sq km makes Ladakh the largest district in India. Ladakh region is bifurcated in Kargil and Leh districts. Kargil lies at an altitude of 2750m and Leh at 3505m. The largest town in Ladakh is Leh.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01:- Srinagar – kargil via sonmarg and Zojilla pass 3527mts (205km i.e 6-7hrs)
Morning after pickup from Srinagar airport drive towards Kargil . After crossing the city is another spectacular facet of country side in Kashmir in Sindh valley.The Sindh valley is largest tributary of the valley of Kashmir. After sonmarg most rough road and wet Zojilla pass (Gate way of Ladakh) This road continue to drive Drass (The Second coldest inhibited village in world ) after more two and half hours drive to Kargil at the altitude of (2715 mts) overnight in Hotel.

Day 02:- Kargil to Leh (235 kms i.e 6-7 hours) via Namki la pass and Photu La.
After breakfast, leave for Leh. On the way halt at Lamayuru Monastery which is one of the oldest monasteries of Ladakh and then to pass through Mulbekh which has the famous Lord Buddha Sculpture. Transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day free to get acclimatized to the high altitude. Overnight in Leh.

Day 03:- Leh to Nubra valley:
After breakfast drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (The Highest Motorable Road In The World) at 5,602 Mtrs / 18,390 Ft, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level. Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our Camp / Hotel in Hunder, have a rest till evening ,before sun set we will take you for a short drive to Hunder sand dunes to visit & ride double humped bacterium camel, later back to accommodation for overnight stay If time permits we will walk around the tiny villages to see how the locals live in this part of the world. A visit to a Ladakhi home can be arranged.
Overnight Stay at the Camp or Hotel.

Day 04:- Nubra-Turtuk-Nubra
After breakfast drive to Turtuk 4 h 46 min (162.3 km) via Diskit – Turtok Hwy, Turtuk is a city in Ladakh. A remote village of about 4,000 residents, inhabited by ethnic Muslims, a few kilometres from the ‘line of control’ (the de facto border) between India and Pakistan, on the Indian side. Until 1971 a part of Baltistan, shared strong economic and cultural ties with Tibet. The residents speak Baltistani, and some Ladakhi and English. The area of the Shayok river past Hundar, including the three villages of Changmar, Bogdan and Turtuk, were only opened to foreign tourists in 2010, so they are still quite new in their contact with tourists and the West, and feel rather unexplored.
Overnight Stay Nubra

Day 05:- Nubra-Pangong.via Agham Shyok Road
After breakfast drive to Pangong lake 7 h 37 min (273.0 km), PangongLake, situated at 13,930 feet (4,267 m). It will take around 5 hours to reach their .A long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometer at its widest point and over 125 km long; it is bisected by the international border between India and China. A few years back the government decided to open it to tourists though the lake and its surrounding is under army surveillance. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable. Overnight Stay at Pangong.

Day 06:- Pangong-Tsomoriri.
After Breakfast drive to Tsomoriri Lake. 8 h 29 min (328.2 km) via Pangong Lake Rd Its located at an altitude of 15,075 ft is the largest of the high altitude lakes in the Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region, Unlike Pangong, this lake is entirely within India and being a sweet water lake, is home to wide range of wildlife. In a 1996 survey It was revealed that Thirty-four species of birds included 14 species of water birds of which 6 are the vulnerable species were found around this lake. Like all other high altitude Himalayan lakes, Moriri is a beauty in itself however it has always been overshadowed by Pangong Tso. Despite the fact that both lakes are in a restricted area and permits are required to visit both, Tso Moriri doesn’t get as many visitors as Pangong. Overnight Stay tsomoriri.

Day 07:- Tsomoriri-Sarchu.
After Breakfast drive to Serchu passing Puga (Sulphur mine), Tsokar Lake, Skyangchuthang (The biggest and Highest Plateau on Stretch about 45 kms), In Pang you can enjoy the Lunch, then Leave for Sarchu via crossing Nakeela and Lchung la .if you want to travel up to kelong you can it will increase your travel for 2 hours over night in Sarchu

Day 08 : Sarchu-Manali drop.
After Breakfast leave for Manali, a beautiful Scenic drive by crossing Baralacha la pass (4845 mts), Lunch at Sissu village, later cross famous Rothang pass, (Which is 13050 fts)
